Women & Wine Wednesdays - Collaborative Networking

April is National Financial Literacy month. Barbara Russell, SM '77 will have a conversation with us about how to de-risk investing in startups.

She will also give us powerful advice for early-stage, tech-enabled companies and strategic advice to maximize the ability to scale.

Barbara co-founded Cap W – an Advisory/investment Banking firm focused on early/mid-stage tech-enabled companies, characterized by strong female and/or POC founders & teams, solving BIG problems with massive market opportunities. In her role as Managing Partner, she strives to advance the ability of tech-based companies, with her focus on AI/ML, blockchain/DLT, clean-tech and fin-tech, to succeed through their model of investing and providing strategic advice that maximizes the ability of these companies to scale via targeted fundraising from optimal and inclusive strategic, venture, and other capital sources. Barbara and her team (which she heads) have advised, invested in, and raised over $200 million of capital for 17 companies since 2015.

She serves on the board of several rapidly-scaling, early and mid-stage companies, providing advice fueled from her 31 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, M&A, and capital markets.  She also serves on non-profit boards including: NFTE and Alliance for Business Leadership (ABL), both of which represent her progressive views on diversity and inclusion.
