Alumni Forum Workshop: The Secret Advantage of Successful Leaders (Career Series #28)

This workshop will introduce the Club’s new Alumni Forum program, based on a proven peer-group model for enriching the work, family, and personal lives of its participants.

Description: This workshop is an introduction to the Club's new MIT Sloan Alumni Forum program.  The program organizes forums composed of 8-12 MIT Sloan alumni who come together regularly for facilitated discussion.  Organizations ranging from Young Presidents' Organization (YPO) to Entrepreneurs' Organization have offered Forums as a core benefit of membership for decades. Now, the MIT Sloan Alumni Club of Boston is offering a similar Forum program (also called Peer Exchange Groups) as part of the Club's successful Career Series program.Whether dealing with the effects of the economic crisis on your business, aging parents or even sudden success, a Forum is a safe, completely confidential environment for discussing the issues important to you with a small group of carefully selected colleagues.  Note: There is an additional fee to join the MIT Sloan Alumni Forum.*

During this special session you will have the opportunity to:
  • Learn about the unique benefits of the new MIT Sloan Alumni Forum programs
  • Understand what has made Forum programs the "secret advantage of successful leaders” for years
  • Experience first-hand some of the benefits Forums provide by experiencing a sample meeting
  • Directly connect with the leaders of our Forum partner, Alumni Forum Services, to better understand the benefits of and requirements for Forum membership, and to ask any further questions

Speakers: This session will be led by Mo Fathelbab and Bob Halperin, the co-founders of Alumni Forum Services, who have been managing Forums across multiple organizations for over 20 years. Mo is president of Forum Resources Network, and the author of "Forum: The Secret Advantage of Successful Leaders" and Bob is former Chief Education Office of Young Presidents Organization, and has led executive education programs at HBS, Babson and MIT Sloan.

Note: If you can’t attend, reply here and we will send more information.

*Many past participants of forum programs have found them to be a very cost-effective supplement or alternative to executive coaching, and the $1,200 annual fee for forum participation is often reimbursed by forum members' businesses as a professional development expense.  To learn more about the fees and benefits of participation, please visit http://mitsloan.alumniforumservices.com/costAndTimeMoreInfo.aspx
