Paycheck Protection Program (CARES Act) & Emergency Paid Leave Discussion

Our speaker, Michael Elkins, will provide an employment lawyer’s perspective on how to navigate the PPP and what employers need to look out for to assist with qualifying for loan forgiveness.

We will discuss the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which allocated almost $350 billion to help small businesses keep workers employed amid the pandemic and economic downturn. Known as the Paycheck Protection Program, the initiative provides 100% federally guaranteed loans to small businesses. Michael will also discuss the new paid sick leave laws, providing a broad overview of the laws and answer any questions. Since Michael is an attorney it is important to note that he cannot give individual legal advice. Michael’s overview is informational only and any questions should be of a general nature, not about a specific problem.

Michael Elkins is a 19 year, nationally quoted labor and employment attorney expert. He has provided commentary on labor and employment matters for national outlets such as CNN, Yahoo Finance, The New York Daily News, Bloomberg and Forbes to name a few.
