"Managing Your Career by Upskilling & Reskilling" (Career Management Series #92)
Dave Denaro will discuss the ever changing, rapidly evolving economy, hybrid work environment, automation, and change management. All these impact most jobs in most sectors of the economy, probably including yours over time, and require new skills.
Upskilling and
reskilling both involve developing new skills, but sometimes for
different purposes. For example, many companies want employees to
upskill, especially to gain newer technology and process skills, to be
even more productive in a role very similar to the one they have.
Individuals might also be interested in reskilling to switch careers to
one that’s more desirable to them, but very different from the one they
have.
With all these forces in play, how do you keep your career on track?
Whose track, yours or your employer’s? Should you be upskilling or
reskilling?
This session will explain one approach to thinking
about your career path and the basics of how to manage your progress
based on two simple concepts: What are your strengths and what do you
care about.
